Ben Schlafman is a University of Rhode Island graduate in Political Science and Marketing who got his start selling and promoting bankruptcy and distressed data products for New Generation Research, Inc. With over 8 years of hands on experience in the bankruptcy and distressed sectors, Ben writes, manages and supports an array of restructuring products under the New Generation Research umbrella.
George Putnam, III the principle owner of New Generation Research, Inc., is a graduate of both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. He first became involved with distressed securities as a lawyer in the late 1970s. After seeing the inefficient niche that bankruptcies operated in, he founded New Generation Research, Inc. in 1986 with The Turnaround Letter and The Bankruptcy DataSource being the first offerings. Since then he has frequently been quoted in Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today and other financial publications for his thoughts on distressed and bankruptcy investing and research. In 1990, he was named investment advisor of the year by USA Today. In addition to his responsibilities at New Generation Research, Inc., Mr. Putnam also serves as a trustee for The Putnam Companies, a mutual fund group with over $100 billion in assets.
Kerry Mastroianni, the editor of The Distressed Company Alert, has been researching distressed and bankrupt companies for over 18 years. As a 10-year employee of New Generation Research, she is also a data editor for Bankruptcy Week and the editor for our annual Bankruptcy Yearbook & Almanac. Prior to Kerry’s employment at NGR, she worked for eight years as a research analyst for KPMG’s corporate recovery practice.
Linzee Brown is the minority owner and President of New Generation Research, Inc. and has been with the firm since 2002. Linzee is responsible for the overall strategic direction and production of all of New Generation Research's offerings including Bankruptcy Week, BankruptcyData.com, the Business Bankruptcy Filing Data service, The Bankruptcy Yearbook & Almanac, The Distressed Company Alert and The Turnaround Letter. Prior to joining New Generation Research, Linzee served as Vice President of Direct Marketing for ISM (Boston), a mid-sized strategic marketing company and prior to that he served as a Vice President for Harte Hanks Direct Marketing, one of the country's largest direct marketing firms.
